Bridge 397

SP 5569 9797 - Height 17'1", Straight Span 40'0", Skew Span 40'6"

Bridge 397 was an iron girder bridge which passed over the B582 Enderby Road. It is now completely demolished. To the North, the embankment is missing for a hundred feet and new commercial buildings cover the site. Behind these lie the intact Bridge 396 over the ex L&NWR line to Leicester and the 13 arch viaduct over the River Sence flood plain. To the South, towards Whetstone station, three hundred foot or so of embankment remains, now with slopes cut into it for easy access. It is used by local residents for dog walking.
